Welcome to the first blog of 2019 from your community of apartments in Louisville, KY! How are your first couple of weeks of work going in 2019? It’s hard to adjust to jam-packed weeks after experiencing the lull of the holiday season, and it’s even harder to cope with the fact that you might be getting home after the sun goes down. While the days will eventually get longer, your work days might not. That is unless you start paying attention to your work-life balance.
In the blog post below, we’ll be sharing some work-life balance tips that you can use to manage your time more efficiently and enjoy more hours at home every evening. Our hope is that once you read through this week’s post, you have the knowledge you need to create your ideal work-life balance.

Schedule events for right after work
It’s easy to leave the office on time if you’ve got a good reason. Try scheduling yoga or fitness classes at 6:00, or making happy hour plans with friends. The more after-work events that you have, the more likely it is that you’ll manage to leave the office on time.
Aim for long-term balance over short-term
It’s going to be hard for you to clock exactly 8 hours every day consistently. Things come up. Sometimes it makes more sense to work longer hours, and sometimes you can take off early to beat traffic. Your goal — when seeking a better work-life balance — should be to achieve balance over weeks or months as opposed to individual days.
Learn to unplug at night
There are a few different ways to unplug at night, and most of them don’t involve you having to take the drastic measure of shutting off your cell phone. Let’s start by talking about your laptop. If you bring your work laptop home with you, be sure to leave it by the door where it belongs. As for your cell phone, we recommend that you turn off notifications for work emails and chats. The less you let your work seep into your home life, the better off you’ll be.
