Eat plenty of strawberries and kiwis.
Believe it or not, there are a lot of foods out there than can help you avoid sunburn. Strawberries and kiwis are filled with vitamin C, anthocyanins, and phytonutrients. The vitamin and phytonutrients acts as natural sunblock, and the anthocyanins help reduce the risk of skin cancer by combating cancer cells within your body.
Add extra sunscreen around water.
It’s always important to put on sunscreen when you’re going to be outside for an extended period of time, but it’s especially important to do it when you’re going to be near water. Sunlight reflects off water, so you can get burnt more easily if you’re laying out by the pool.
Don’t forget your lips
Lips are super sensitive and can burn easily if you’re not careful. When you’re out buying sunscreen for the rest of your body, be sure to pick up some lip balm that’s at least SPF 15. You can imagine how painful it is to get sunburnt on your lips, and nothing will ruin a day at the pool faster!
Drink more green tea
Green tea is good for your skin in general, but it’s especially useful for anyone who spends a lot of time in the sun. Not only does green tea reduce signs of aging in your skin, but it contains properties that can reduce the likelihood of melanoma. Next time you’re at the local coffee shop, try a cup of green tea instead of that overpriced, sugary coffee concoction!
Bring candy to the pool
This last tip will probably be your favorite one. Dark chocolate is actually good for your skin, even if it isn’t great for your diet. Not only does dark chocolate make your skin smoother, but the antioxidants in chocolate also help protect your skin from the sun. Be sure to find chocolate that contains at least 70% cacao beans.
