With Saint Patrick's Day in the rearview, it’s officially time to focus on spring cleaning and spring cooking. We think the latter is way more fun, so we’ll be spending our time on this week’s blog talking about that.


If you spent all winter making stew and chili, it’s time to forget all about those heavy, hearty recipes. Spring is for light eating, colorful dishes, and fresh ingredients! Ricotta Dumplings with Asparagus and Garlic


Is there’s any better combination than cheese and carbs, we haven't’ heard of it. This dish will make your whole apartment smell great, so as tempting as it is to open the windows and cook in the spring, we recommend keeping the smells all to yourself. This isn’t the most filling dish, but you can fix that by adding more dumplings than the recipe calls for.

  • Lemon Juice

  • Egg Yolk

  • Ricotta

  • Flour

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Grana Padano


Beet and Ricotta Hummus


This isn’t an entree, but it’s the perfect appetizer to any of other dishes on this list. Hummus is usually made with just chickpeas, but the beets add an interesting flavor to the mix. The final product is a deep red color, but don’t be alarmed by that. Grab some saltine crackers or some Triscuits and dig into this delicious appetizer.

One-Skillet Steak and with Spring Veggies and Spicy Mustard


Spring recipe shave to be filling without being too heavy. This recipe strikes the perfect balance, and although steak isn’t the healthiest meal, you can at least make the case that this recipe isn’t as healthy as a hearty plate full of steak and mashed potatoes. The two things that set this dish apart are the red wine vinegar and the dijon mustard. You’ll feel fancy just making it!

Strawberry-Basil Shortcakes


The last item on our list is also the sweetest. There’s something about the combination of strawberries and fresh basil that just makes you feel ready for the slush to melt and the grass to turn green. This recipe is the perfect thing to whip up on a sunny afternoon with the windows open, so grab your baking pan and get started!
